PPI is thrilled to announce that the June 2013 issue of Med Monthly highlights the use of the Patient Performance Enhancement Tool (PET) as a means to captured the patient perspective in improving one’s practice. In its article, “Key Factors in Staff and Patient Performance” the article observes rightly that “Obtaining accurate, timely and relevant feedback from patients is essential for the doctors and their staff to assess how well they are doing.”
In focusing on the use of the PET tool, the article interviews PPI’s PET Program Director, Amanda Vigue, about the importance of empowering patient feedback. Ms. Vigue notes in the article that the PET has benefits for improvement in both a physician office and an organizational setting, such as a hospital or ACO:

The Patient Performance Institute is excited to share that the May Case Study in the Beryl Institute’s “Patient Experience Monthly” centers around Mercy Hospital’s use of the Patient Performance Enhancement Tool (the PET).
Developed by the Patient Performance Institute, the PET asks for patient feedback in a number of non-clinical areas which evidence-based studies show impact health outcomes: financial, social, logistical, emotional, health literacy and preferred learning styles. It also asks the patient to provide historical information about following doctors’ recommendations during past illnesses and to indicate if the provider teams have been confusing in their conversations to-date.
